Artist Statement
Where are the focal points of feeling?
What are the triggers of memory?
Where do heart, mind, spirit intersect?
Where does the unseen become visible?
These are the questions I hold open while I work.
These questions yield art experiments which are joyful,
whimsical, playful, provocative, melancholic, unsettling.
My paintings play with texture, color, light, composition,
shifting often between representation and abstraction.
The narrative, if there is one, is rarely explicit.
Ideally, any narrative is the viewer’s own.
The work is an invitation to look in,
an evocation of what is within.
Musical experiments are likewise infused with texture and
color, lyrical compositions layering thoughts, feelings, spirit.
This work dances with the sound around it:
the natural environment, an urban landscape,
boundless musical influences,
and the soundscape of my co-experimentors,
my fellow players.
